(For our inexperienced hunters)
MAKE SURE THE GUN IS UNLOADED.
The week before hunting practice mounting your gun.
Point the gun out at the target then pull the butt into your shoulder.
Plant your cheek on the stock so your eye is aligned with the barrel.
Swing through an imaginary target and keep the gun moving.
Shells: Bring at least two (2) boxes of premium shells!
No larger loads then No. 6 shot, 1 1/8 oz. or 1 ΒΌ oz. lead shot at max velocity 1350 + fps. This load is the optimum balance of range, killing power, and pellet count.
Clothes:
The Law states that at a minimum you must wear a solid blaze orange hat.
Hunting vests: A blaze orange upland hunting vest is highly recommended.
A good upland vest will also hold shotgun shells, birds that you have shot, water, and other small personal items.
Missouri law requires all hunters to have a small game license between the ages of 16 to 64. There is a three (3) day small game hunting license you can purchase on line at mdc.mo.gov/permits
