SAFETY

Always keep the muzzle in a safe direction. IN THE FIELD THIS IS UP.
Keep your gun on safe all the time.
Keep your finger off the trigger, and out of the trigger guard.
Unload your gun when not hunting or crossing fences.
Know where all participants are at all times, including the guide and dogs
Do not shoot outside of your zone.
Do not shoot at birds on the ground.
Listen to the guide and follow his instruction implicitly.
Anyone can call a cease fire for safety at any time.
Ask the guide any and all questions you may have.
Inform the guide of any safety concerns.

HUNTING DOGS

Do not pet the hunting dogs please ignore them.
Do not feed the hunting dogs.
Do not talk to the hunting dogs.
Never try to take a bird from the mouth of a hunting dog.
Let the guide know where the dogs are if you can see them.

SHOOTING

“A Hit is History and a Miss is a Mystery”
(For our inexperienced hunters)
MAKE SURE THE GUN IS UNLOADED.
The week before hunting practice mounting your gun.
Point the gun out at the target then pull the butt into your shoulder.
Plant your cheek on the stock so your eye is aligned with the barrel.
Swing through an imaginary target and keep the gun moving.

LOADS

Shells: Bring at least two (2) boxes of premium shells!
No larger loads then No. 6 shot, 1 1/8 oz. or 1 ΒΌ oz. lead shot at max velocity 1350 + fps. This load is the optimum balance of range, killing power, and pellet count.
Clothes:
The Law states that at a minimum you must wear a solid blaze orange hat.

CLOTHING & LICENSES

Hunting vests: A blaze orange upland hunting vest is highly recommended.
A good upland vest will also hold shotgun shells, birds that you have shot, water, and other small personal items.
Missouri law requires all hunters to have a small game license between the ages of 16 to 64. There is a three (3) day small game hunting license you can purchase on line at mdc.mo.gov/permits
